We cater for students up to the age of 16 years in their own purpose built department. Bursaries are available. An entrance examination will need to be passed for students entering at 11+, 12+ 13+ and 14+. Rastrick takes its place alongside the areas top Grammar Schools. The Senior Department is known as We pledge that our class sizes will be no more than 22 (please note that we do keep two places per class for people moving into the area or siblings of older children entering the school, therefore, the class size could rise to 22). The ‘classes’ are only ‘social bases’, however. The children are taught by highly qualified subject specialist teachers. This method of ‘setting’ your child ensures they mostly work in groups of just 6, 8 or 10.
GCSE Entries Discussions will take place with parents and pupils and targets set. The school, however, reserve the right to make the final decision regarding the entry of pupils for GCSE examinations. Alternative courses within the pupil’s capabilities can be offered in the place of GCSE if required. Our ultimate aim is to ensure we meet the educational needs of each individual and so ensuring their full potential is achieved. The Totally Unique Curriculum Experience
This 21st Century total experience is all-embracing If Oxbridge or other Universities is intended, then academic students will pursue a broad-based academic curriculum encompassing all of the National Curriculum Subjects during Years 7 and 8. From the beginning of Year 9 options will be decided. During Year 9 to 11 a wide choice of subjects will be offered. For the Vocational student during Years 7 and 8 a full national curriculum will be followed. From Year 9 the core skills approach offers a foundation which will guarantee entry into further vocational training and more work experience. Our external links with training agencies, top firms and companies will ensure students quality work experience periods. q An environment where your child will gain confidence and independence, yet, be nurtured and guided during their most important formative years into adulthood.
